Agni Raksha believes that a life devastated by fire is not the end, but the start of a new beginning. Agni Raksha provides a holistic rehabilitation process for burn victims from poor families, especially women and children. This includes comprehensive medical treatment and opportunities for income generation.

Networking

Agni Raksha’s networking activities span hospitals, slums, schools, colleges, NGOs, elected public representatives, Government officials, and police stations. The networking, which covers the length and breadth of Bangalore city, has helped to create awareness about Agni Raksha’s work. The interaction has led to sensitization sessions in different places about prevention of burns caused by accidents or unsafe cooking practices.

Many hospitals and clinics have referred burn victims not just for treatment but also specifically for dressings for burn victims/patients. Networking with the police and elected public representatives has led to identification of burn victims requiring burn treatment, and is establishing a public domain for delivery of justice and protection of victims.

Agni Raksha has designed various programmes for the benefit of burn victims. Some of them include sensitization, treatment, prevention, identification and vocational training. In order to be able to do this in an effective manner, and also reach out to a large number of burn victims and medical care providers, Agni Raksha  is constantly networking with various stakeholders. Though the process towards getting formal approvals or permissions is time consuming and involves regular follow up.
